The first real gadget I ever owned is this Canon Ixus camera that my husband bought last December 2005. What I love about this point-and-shoot camera is that I can bring it anywhere because of its size. Although I cannot really adjust any of the settings (like aperture, focal length and all those serious photography stuff), I was still able to take beautiful pictures of sunsets and sunrises, beach landscapes and cityscapes, dinners and lunches with friends, and of course lots and lots and lots of candid shots of me and my family.
Although my mom bought me a new camera this year (a Canon S3 IS, I'll post more on that later), I still bring along my Ixus everyday. It's handy, it's a no-brainer to operate, and I'm so used to its functions already. Even my 7 year-old daughter knows how to use it!
Some samples of my fave shots using this camera:

Wow, these photos are amazing and the last one of your daughter is soooo cute!
I
need a new camera because I've gone through two Sony cybershots and I hate them! So I think I'll look into this one - thanks for posting this!
1lovely! My old canon point-and-shoot just died, so I am in the market for a new one. Will have to consider this one!
2there is a newer model of the IXUS iZoom (in our country they're marketed as IXUS, while they're marketed in the US as Powershot SD40 Digital Elph). I think the only diff is that the newer one has more megapixels (7.1 compared to my cam's 5).
i would really recommend buying this camera. it has been with me EVERYWHERE and still works perfectly fine
3ei! i know you! i know you!!!
haha
